Fukuoka Japan Metropolis

I would love to visit all of the major metropolises of Japan in my lifetime, although this is a goal that I may never reach. Among those major cities is the city of Fukuoka Japan, one of the youngest, but fast growing cities in Japan. Fukuoka Japan is a city I would like to see sometime, but if I could only visit one or two cities in Japan, this would not be one of them (sorry Fukuoka). Let me weigh the pros and cons here for a moment.

Pros of Fukuoka Japan

The lead for Spitz came from Fukuoka Japan. Fukuoka Japan has a "green metropolis," a great blend of green spaces and city spaces. They have one of the biggest, most popular festivals in Japan (although I would probably prefer to watch it on TV than be there in person; I'm not sure how I would do with the very, very, very large crowds). They are very near to the rest of South Asia. Basically there are lots of awesome pros for Fukuoka Japan.

Cons of Fukuoka Japan

Well, Fukuoka Japan is in the south of Japan, so it is one of the more humid, muggy climates. Also it is a big city, which means lots of people, and I think it is much more popular with tourists than the cities I have foremost in mind for my Japan visit. And Fukuoka Japan is much more of a glitz and glamor city than a city like Nagoya. And trust me, I am not a glitz and glamor, clubbing type of person. Also, because it is on the cost it is a big seafood and sushi city, which as a vegetarian can actually make it harder to find food I can eat. It can be hard to eat in a city that is mostly fish and noodles.

To Fukuoka Japan or not to Fukuoka Japan

That is the question, isn't it? Well, I suppose ultimately the question will come down to how much time I have to spend in Fukuoka Japan. If I end up there for several years that would be one thing. If, in my lifetime, I only go on one holiday to Japan, Fukuoka Japan may not make it onto my destination list. Especially since it is such a big city with so much to explore, and I am one of those people who find it difficult to enter into a task (like exploring a city) if I won't be able to fully and thoroughly execute it. That's part of the reason why I like smaller metropolises; you can thoroughly explore them sooner. So...maybe another day.
